The Rose Theater

Teaching Artist Fellow | Teaching Artist

Duties: Teaching, Acting, Directing, Accessibility Committee
Teaching
  • Every Single Child (ESC) Programing

    • Partnership with Omaha Public Schools (OPS) that every student grades kindergarten through 5th grade gets one experience with The Rose throughout the year.​

      • K - 50 minute Creative Movement residency in the classroom

      • 1 - come see a show at The Rose

      • 2 - 2 day Readers Theater residency

      • 3 - Full Day workshop at The Rose, learning about Technical Design and Acting

      • 4 - Metro Tour show in their "classroom" 

      • 5 - 3 day American Revolution residency

    • Trained on a lesson plan and replicate to multiple classrooms throughout the year.

    • Redesigning every residency to be done virtually due to Covid restrictions.

    • Redesigning the American Revolution and Creative Movement residencies to reflect BIPOC voices and experiences.​

  • Pre-K Curriculum Enrichment​

    • Pre-Ks who sign up for the Enrichment program get to see 2 shows, one Tour and on at The Rose, and receive a pre- and post-show workshop relating to the show.​

    • Planning and teaching the workshops to 2 schools with 7 sections of pre-schoolers overall.

  • School Year Classes

    • Co-teacher for different age ranges. (pre-k through high school)

    • Role Drama, Acting, Creative Drama

    • Lesson planning, lead teaching units, and co-teaching the classes.

  • Summer Camps

    • Due to Covid restrictions, the Summer 2020 Classes went digital!

    • Lead teacher on all of my classes, assistant teaching were the college summer interns.

    • Planned the week long, themed summer camps, production camps, and script work camps.

    • Directed a 3 week production of Wind in the Willows with 5 actors.

    • Created a final sharing video each week for the classes to have. Videos ranged from 10 - 45 minutes. 

  • Theater Club

    • After School programming for Middle School students​

    • Hour long theatre lessons, twice a week.

Acting
  • Bucket of Blessings - Monkey

    • As part of the FirstStage Series geared towards audience members 2+​ and for young people who may need a wiggle-friendly performance.

  • Land of Peas - Puppeteer, Queen of Peas, Sis​
    • Metro Tour for pre-schoolers. Learning about Nutrition, eating healthy, and trying new things.​
  • Mysterious Case Files of Silver Cash Money Detective - Nancy​​
    • Pre-Recorded, digital production for 4th graders. Learning about Saving, Budgeting, and Money wise decisions​
  • How to Build an Ark - Frog, Naked Mole Rat
    • World Premiere, playwright Ellen Struve ​

Directing

  • Shrek The Musical Jr.

    • Inclusive, ASL interpreted​

    • Started in person, switched to digital production 2 weeks before opening.

    • Due to legal reasons with MTI, we had to devise a Shrek "Between the Scenes" show for the students to act in.

  • Wind in the Willows

    • Digital, 3 week production camp​

    • Rehearsed and recorded on Zoom

    • Students designed costumes, backdrops, and props

    • Helped edit the production and adding sound cues

  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

    • Digital, Inclusive, ASL interpreted​

    • Rehearsed and Recorded through Zoom

    • Lead design projects for costumes, props, puppets, backdrops, and makeup.

Accessibility Committee
  • Grant Writing

  • Working Inter-Departmentally to continue to make The Rose inclusive and accessible.

    • Adding a Tech Cart and Video Tour for students with mobility difficulties to access the same information their abled-bodied peers get to see on Tours.

  • Sensory-Friendly Performances

    • Providing Sensory Kits​

    • Supervising a Sensory Friendly Q&A session after the show

    • Providing "warnings" during the show with a glow stick in the front row

  • Social Stories

    • Creating and writing Social Stories for each show​

    • Filming and editing a general Social Story for Covid-Aware shows

  • Captioned Performances

    • Utilizing Keynote to project a PowerPoint presentation to audience members wanting closed-captioning.​
